Why this law firm?
After 20 years of litigation practice, God radically redirected my life to vocational ministry. Because of my background, my focus for the last 10 years has been the business of ministry, including managing legal issues that arise.
But I encountered two big problems. First, quality legal services is expensive! As a former law firm partner, I understood “big firm” economics. But I also knew that every dollar spent on the lawyer meant less spent for the mission. Second, I felt frustrated when expensive legal advice was not merged with practical legal solutions that met my ministry context. For His Glory Law is my response to these problems: affordable, God-honoring legal solutions for your ministry.
The world is not much different than when Jesus sent out His first disciples. Our ministries operate in “the midst of wolves.” Jesus commanded His disciples (and commands us) to respond with shrewdness, recognizing the risks and responding to them, but also with above-reproach character, empowered by the Holy Spirit. See Matthew 10:16 and my blog on Biblical Risk Management. For His Glory Law helps you do both.
In addition to 30 years as an attorney, I have held the positions of executive pastor, missions manager, and non-profit in-house counsel. I am intimately familiar with the ministry issues you face.
Why the name?
While I grew up in a Christian home and accepted Jesus as my savior when I was 8, for the first 25 years of my career, Jesus had little influence over my work life. When it came to my successful litigation law business, I was ethical, but that business was my kingdom, under my power and under my control. If being truly honest, it was also for my glory. But there was a price. I was exhausted, burned out, stressed out and depressed. My white-knuckled grip on my work life was tight.
Then God allowed a bomb to drop into the middle of that life. On the afternoon of March 29, 2006, my wife and I received a phone call. The caller said, “there’s been an accident.” Within a few hours, God plucked me out of life-as-I-knew-it and put me in a hospital room for 30 days to watch and pray as the doctors rebuilt my daughter. While her recovery was itself a miracle, God would then take me on a journey into the political arena. I watched God do amazing things. That journey taught me: I was not in control, He was. It was not about me; it was all about Him. I realized my true purpose was His Kingdom, In His Power and For His Glory. And that forever changed the trajectory of my life. That same trajectory now brings us together. I welcome the opportunity to serve your ministry’s needs, FOR HIS GLORY!
